Ran into David Graham, the 1981 U.S. Open champ, at the Lake Lodge in Whitefish this week and he remarked that he couldn't believe "that young fellow won a million and a half dollars'' last week at the Olympic Club. "When I won at Merion in '81, they gave me a check for $50,000!" When I told him money went farther in those days, Graham laughed and said: "Yes, they'd like us to believe that!" For a guy who has had health issues, Graham looked good.

On the side of a very large truck, in very large letters, "Don't let Satan hitch a ride, He likes to drive"..(at the Olympic Club gate, together with about 100 or so porta potties. I guess the US Open is over, too bad Tiger..maybe next year..)
