It is unfortunate to know the split of the Maoist Party. It is not a good signal for Nepali democracy which is under a prolonged political transition. But the fortunate part of this divide is that Maoist Supremo Pushpa Kamal Dahal has lost one of the boats (‘people’s republic’) he used to use while dealing with different constituencies at a time. His modus operandi was to assure about Maoist's commitment to multiparty pluralism and ‘capitalism’ while he was with the international community; and to reassure the ‘people’s republic’ as the definitive goal of the party once he was with the party rank and file.

It was originally named after him (Longbotham) and there's a chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas that is made up of only his descendents.
