rodney king beating

ÓŹ ✿

The news is saying that Rodney King's beating sparked riots, this was not the case, it was the cops getting off for beating him, that sparked the fire. If they keep rewriting history, people will never understand why we feel the way we do! There's a history of black people as a whole not getting justice. WE have been beat, killed, lost jobs, and unlawfully locked up through out history. Laws have been put in place to take away our human rights. From Jim crow, voter laws or even the more resent stop and frisk laws , That let cops stop young black men without just cause. WE didn't spark the fire!!!!!

TheGrio shared the following link and had this to say about it:

I had forgotten how brutal the Rodney King beating was.Seeing it again brings back horrible memories of Police brutality. Cops still brutalize people of color everyday and officer involved shootings are a daily event.Teach your kids its life or death dealing with the police and should act so accordingly.

My husband Jim was a photojournalist at the Los Angeles Times when the Rodney King verdict was given. An editor at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, where he works now, asked him to write about his recollections. Here's the link:
