Freezing our nats off today, but yesterday we took a good decision to go to the Lakes to watch the Diamond Jubilee beacons being lit across NW England. The weather up there was sunny and reasonably warm. Watching from Hampsfield Fell we saw the sun set at 2130. From 2200 the beacons were lit one by one, our own on Hampsfield at 2215. We saw more than 20 others, amongst them Rivington Pike 40 miles away, Old Man of Coniston, Ingleborough Hill, Skiddaw, I think? And then, as if to script, a full moon rose over Morecambe Bay. After the BBC's dire coverage of the Thames pageant on Sunday, this was England doing what only England can.

Yet amidst all the accolades, state dinners, and thousands of “Jubilee beacons” being lit around the world, one aspect of the Queen’s resume stands out for its inexplicable absence: In six decades of reign she has made hundreds of royal visits to 129 different countries, though never once been to Israel.

Today, public holiday in UK for celebrating Queen's Diamond Jubilee--60-year reign of Queen Elizabeth II. This year the celebration is held in Diamond Jubilee Thames River. Apart from that, there are a lot of happening during the central weekend such as Diamond Jubilee concert, Diamond Jubilee beacons, prayer and procession and etc etc....If interested, find out more from the UK news:)
