Simply the greatest race ever ran , by human or animal, by the greatest race horse ever. Some fun facts. Triple crown winner and has the record in each one that still stands to this day. At the Kentucky Dreby she ran each furlong faster than the one before. At the preakness she started dead last and passed everyone up like they were standing still . And of course at the Belmont she won by 31 lengths , unbelievable, and shattered the record. The Maryland Racing Commission voted 7-0 in a special hearing to change Secretariat's official time from 1:54 2/5 to 1:53. That gives Secretariat records in all three Triple Crown races. Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes. There was a electronic timing malfunction in the Preakness. He was never credited with the record until now.

Secretariat's legend grows. The Maryland Racing Commission studied the video evidence and have credited Big Red with a 1:53 in the 1973 Preakness. That gives Secretariat the record in that race as well as in the Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes.
