Matt Cain of the SF Giants pitched a perfect game yesterday - only the 22nd time in Major League Baseball that has happened. This was the first perfect game in Giants franchise history. Its also the 2nd time this season that it happened, the first being Phillip Humber of the White Sox back in April. The last time that 2 perfect games were pitched in the same season was 1880! Such feats are unheard of in any other sport. That's why I love baseball so much.

3rd time in ML History that there were 2 perfect games thrown in the same season (1880, 2010, and now 2012)... will we witness history by seeing a 3rd in this young season!?!? Congrats to Matt Cain for becoming the 22nd pitcher in ML History with a perfect game!

Why isn't the catcher's name along side the pitcher's name in the baseball archives of no hitters and perfect games? No love for catchers in baseball. Last night's perfect game should be credited to Cain/Posey. The catcher's role to a pitcher is pretty crucial. Everybody remembers who pitches the game, but whoever called the game should be honored as well.

5 no hitters (including 2 perfect games), a four HR game by Hamilton, a few cycles, so many young bats and arms emerging, and most of all... the Mets playin kickass baseball. its a great season for MLB so far
