I saw the movie Prometheus on Saturday and have been thinking about it and what it meant ever since. When I first left the theatre, I thought it was a good film, not a great film (why do all these movies have the same sterotypically obnoxious and boring background characters). But the visual aspects of the movie were second only to Avatar, maybe in fact better. Prometheus does what good sci-fi movies do best--it makes you think--what just happened. And it doesn't answer all the questions (think 2001 Space Odyssey). If you liked the TV series, "Lost" as I did, or the movie "Inception" that came out last year, you will like this movie. Otherwise, you will probably not like it.

In honor of all the recent Alien/Prometheus discourse, I re-watched the special edition of Alien 3. I think the film turned out extremely well considering the pre-production nightmare that was given to Fincher. This was also his FIRST major motion picture.

Charles Dance is great, killing off Hicks and Newt is understandable, and the visuals are amazing. Gore set to a religious monologue is always a good thing. The special edition of Alien 3 is a fine addition to the franchise, people shouldn't be so hard on it.

Watched 2001 on DVD over the weekend. First time I'e seen it since my teens. Can't believe how ahead of it's time it was, in so many respects. Made in 1968 and so many films/TV shows since have drawn on it for inspiration. Close Encounters, Alien, Prometheus, Star Wars,UFO, Space 1999. Hell it even has an iPad style device in it! Well worth a watch if you can cope with Kubricks sterile and measured approach, and the decidedly trippy 60s ending :-D

Poopity Poo, Prometheus did not live up to my expectations. Ridley Scott there is reason you weren't asked on for any of the alien movies after Alien.

Prometheus was good but it should have been way better. It had great Characters but the bad guy was just totally missing the whole movie. He should have done it strait up Blackhawk down style. They land on the planet HOLY BABY JESUS we have to get away from aliens.

One more note about Alien/Prometheus and then I'll shut up about it (well, maybe). We think of Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) as a character who epitomizes courage. But her constant goal in Alien I-IV is making it back home. And you know what's more courageous than that? What Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) does in Prometheus.

Snikers has stones again. It took 4 years for him to get it the 1st time. Then it took a year before he needed it again. Now it has been just under 6 months since his last surgery. If the Xrays reveal he does indeed have stones, the only next step is an expensive surgery, $2000+ and it is not a guarantee. Sadly, we will most likely have to put him down.

Even if we could afford this surgery, I am having a hard time convincing myself it is the best life choice for him. The basic premise of the surgery is his penis is removed and he is given a vagina in simplistic terms.

Has anyone ever had a problem with Google Chrome where it redirects to Yahoo with the search results? Online blogs say this is a "Google Redirect Virus", but McAfee says it is not really a virus. If I type in the URL bar a search term such as "cars", it gives me the results in Yahoo, instead of Google. If I type "cars" in the Google search box, it gives me Google results. This is driving me crazy. McAfee wants $130 to fix this problem. I would rather fix it myself. I've tried uninstalling Google Chrome and re-installing it (after updating Adobe Flash Player and Java, which McAfee told me were not updated). Any help would be appreciated.
